About Us

We built the restaurant we wanted to enjoy

John Witmer and Melissa Strong teamed up in 2016 to build a dream - an elevated culinary experience in Estes Park, where people can enjoy locally-sourced ingredients prepared in unique ways that only the mountains and expertise can produce. As co-owner, John learned every aspect of Bird & Jim. He and Melissa opened the restaurant in October 2017, spotlighting his accreditation from the International Sommelier Guild that has earned Wine Spectator awards of excellence each year since 2020.

Come enjoy a glass of wine with John or have him develop a pairing for your event to make it even more memorable.
